It has become a common occurrence to have businesses ask if you would like to donate to a cause when you check out. If you live in a smaller community why not try this on a smaller scale and ask local business owners for their help? This would be especially effective if many residents share a common bond i.e. a band, sports team, family in need, etc. Have the business ask their customers at the end of their purchase if they would like to help out the cause. The total can be added on to the bill, and if it’s a check/credit card cashed out and placed into a collection box by the customer. Many people have good intentions of donating to a cause, yet never have a chance to get to it. This makes it easy for the busy person, and also tangible by giving them the cash back to place in the box.
