Help local businesses and homeowners display their patriotic support with this easy fundraiser.
Contact businesses and individuals to offer your services in posting an American flag on their property for each of the patriotic holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Flag Day, Veteran’s Day, Presidents Day). Sign an annual contract with each property owner that states for an upfront donation to your organization, you will provide a flag and the labor to hang the flag before the holiday and take it down after the holiday.
Charge $100 for the year. Renew the contract at the beginning of each year to keep the fundraiser going.
A supply of flags can be purchased at retail outlets or online. The easiest kind to deal with would be ones that can be stuck in the ground so you don’t need to worry about flag poles.
The week before the holiday, enlist the help of volunteers to hang the flags (and remove them). You’ll need somewhere to store the flags between holidays.
This would be the perfect fundraiser for a group of boy or girl scouts. I’ve seen it done by the American Legion, Optmists, and Lions club too.
