Ok……who wants to have fun and raise money at the same time?? Pretty much everyone I would think! How about trying this unique fundraiser, especially since summer is rapidly approaching! Have fun with a liitle “tongue in cheek ” humor and host a Black Tie Bar-b-Que. The guys may not be too thrilled, but lots of women will welcome the opportunity to dress up, and still have a relaxed and fun evening as well! Really, it could be fun to see what everyones idea of black tie can be. A t-shirt and a black bow tie could even fit the bill, so make it clear that the black tie is a very loose term!
- Determine how much money can be spent up front
- Find a local catering company or an acquaintance who has a large portable commercial sized grill
- Ask group supporters to donate meat for grilling, dishes that serves many people (for instance, salad for 50) rolls, and drinks (alcoholic & non, depending on your group & time of day. You may want to consider a cash bar?)
- Solicit donations from local business owners to raffle off at the BBQ. Sell raffle tickets for $1 a ticket or whatever you deem fair depending on the prizes
- Decide how much you will charge for dinner per person. If this is a family event, consider an adult and a childs charge.
- Advertise!!! Make sure it is apparent what you are raising funds for.
