Our church does a little fundraising every year for Equal Exchange. The concept is simple: The church and its members support the producers of fair trade items by purchasing from them.
The church places a large order in late October for a variety of coffee, tea, chocolate, and ornaments. A group of voluteers from the church then spend time putting together gift baskets with the items. The gift baskets are then sold to congregation members and the community at cost just in time for the holidays.
The church does not make money on this sale – it is purely a way to support the fair trade producers.
Do you have an organization that would like to support Fair Trade? Consider ordering some items now to sell in your community. Get a free fundraising guide from Equal Exchange.
