Gift Card Tree

Here’s a great for a project where each person is responsible for raising their share of the funds.

  • Each person in the group donates a $20 gift card. (You can change the amount of the gift card but make sure everyone is donating the same amount to the project.)
  • The cards are hung on a small, table-top Christmas tree (or for security, you can hang an ornament to resemble each gift card in place of the actual gift card).
  • The decorated tree and the gift cards now become the prize. If you have a large group, divide the gift cards up among multiple trees so each tree has 8 – 10 gift cards on it.
  • Raffle tickets are sold for $1 each, or 6 for $5.
  • Each person in the group is asked to sell raffle tickets. The money they collect from their ticket sales gets credited to the amount they must raise.
  • Given the low cost of the raffle tickets, and the direct benefit of the sales, group members will be encouraged to sell as many tickets as they can to reach their fundraising target.
