Advertise for local talent to enter for a fee.
Decide on a location such as a church or community hall, a local dance studio, etc…
Decide if you want to have both individual groups and or individual dancers.
Ask a local dance instructor to donate their time to your group by agreeing to judge the competition

Here is a unique idea to give back, with your time and not your money! Check with your local community center or library to see if they would support you using their location to hang a community giving tree.

You can do this with a paper tree and leaves on the wall, or you can make it pretty by cutting a tree branch, and placing it in a decorative container. Make pretty leaves to be clipped or hung on the tree. Place an envelope, or some sort of container with blank leaves.

Invite community members to place a need or wish that they know of on a leaf and hang on the tree. Invite the community to pick a leaf off of the tree to fulfill that wish or need. You may not make any money on this one, but you can spread the “wealth” in other ways….by taking care of others.

*Note – Some ideas would be “clean up trash on Main St., or offer rides to elderly residents who do not have their licenses, weed planters at a local park, bring a meal to a family in need, or walk the dog of a person who is ill, etc”

Fantasy Fudge Fundraiser

Many people have their own family recipes for amazing fudge of all different varieties. Use their recipes to raise funds for your group! Ask friends and family if they would be willing to whip up a batch of their top secret fudge for your group. Try to get several different varieties such as peanut butter, white fudge, coconut pecan, maple, etc…

Buy pretty treat boxes at a craft store. Make up variety boxes, a few of each type for sale. If you have the space where you decide to market your product, you may want to consider boxing individually. That way each person would be able to customize the variety they would like. Sell the fantasy fudge boxes at any local event!

Make a list of people who support your group. Pass the piggy bank from member to member, and ask for group supporters to take the pig to work or church with them and ask family & friends to contribute their pocket change. Have each member keep the pig for a few days before “passing the pig”!

If you live in a smaller community why not try this on a smaller scale and ask local business owners for their help? This would be especially effective if many residents share a common bond i.e. a band, sports team, family in need, etc. Have the business ask their customers at the end of their purchase if they would like to help out the cause. The total can be added on to the bill, and if it’s a check/credit card cashed out and placed into a collection box by the customer. Many people have good intentions of donating to a cause, yet never have a chance to get to it. This makes it easy for the busy person, and also tangible by giving them the cash back to place in the box.

Valet Parking – Unique Fundraiser

Here is a unique idea that will be sure to raise funds for your group1 Why not offer “Valet Parking” for a donation at a local sporting event, school play, competition, etc? We all have experienced the annoyance of limited parking at one of these events! Advertise that you will be offering valet services for a donation to raise money for your group!

You will need to enlist the help of 10-20 volunteers, who are over the age of 16. (Preferably over the age of 18!)
It would also be beneficial to have each of them bring a bicycle or even a golf cart if one is available for going back and forth.
Have a valet station set up in front of the event.
Tag each set of keys, and drive the cars off site. It would be great if there is a parking lot close enough to utilize. Just be sure to get permission from the business or school etc. that you will be using.

If you can get this to work for your group, this can be a real moneymaker…there is no overhead at all on this one!

Honey-Do Raffle Fundraiser
