• Ask teachers if the would be willing to showcase any unique “talent” they have.
• Once it has been decided which teachers will compete, design and publish a program for your show.
• Ask parents for a donation of baked goods or other concessions items to sell to raise more money.
• Publicize the event…it can be a great time for everybody PLUS a perfect way to promote school spirit!

Here is a fundraiser that could switch the roles, or let the parents put their words into actions, while raising money for a specific organization or school team.  The idea is to set up a match between the players and the parents (after the season would make sure that no one missed out on a regular season game/match if an injury occurred).  All monies earned from ticket sales, concessions, raffles, etc., goes to the organization running the event.

It could be come an annual event with the winners having bragging rights for an entire year.

Call any sports arenas and/or other facilities that have concession stands and ask if they participate in such a program, or if they would be willing to give it a try. If you are in luck, ask group supporters to participate.

Make sure to get a firm commitment from those people, and make sure that you have responsible people signed up. Large venues will be depending on your group, and you will want to leave a good impression for future fundraising.

Enlist the help of a local antique dealer to appraise items brought in from the public. Sell tickets to the event based on the number of items a person wants appraised. Offer a discount if multiple tickets are purchased together, like 6 appraisals for the cost of 5.

This is a win-win-win for all involved. Your organization makes money from ticket sales and concessions, the antique dealer gets some great publicity and some good leads on quality antiques, and the attendees get their questions answered about their favorite artifacts.

By hosting this fundraising event each year, it will grow in popularity and draw people from a wider area. Be sure to advertise in the local paper, and prepare flyers to hang at local antique stores, the grocery store, churches, and senior activity centers.

Each team pays an entry fee ($10 – $20). Try to get at least 20-30 teams to sign up.

Select a location with pleant of room for the participants and spectators.

Award the winning team a trophy (or other prize).

Sell concessions, hold a raffle, or auction off items during the festivities to increase your fundraising.

Make it an annual event in conjunction with a community festival to keep the momentum going year after year. It’ll be something the teams look forward to in hopes of getting bragging rights for the whole year.

Who: Solicit teams to compete in a variety of categories

Where: Sandy beach or large parking area that will allow you to dump truck loads of sand

When: Plan a day-long event. Give participants a set time limit for building. Follow with a couple hours of viewing and judging. Wrap up with the awards ceremony

How: With some planning and a good group of volunteers this could become an annual fundraiser for your charity.

Have Fun!

Check with your local activities program and ask them if you could sell concessions at sporting events.  If they are resistant, you could even offer to share the proceeds with them.   Keep it simple…drinks, snacks and popcorn would be adequate.  If you want to up the money, you could consider adding hot dogs or coffee & hot chocolate too.  You can raise quite a bit of money for your group with this easy fundraising idea!
