Soups for Souls – Religious Fundraiser

Are you raising money for a religious group or cause? If so, a Soup for the Soul may be just the thing. The object is to offer soup for sale and delivery in quart jars/containers. This is an easy fundraiser because you do not have to secure a location, and it is largely dependent on volunteer labor. This is a great fundraiser to consider during the cooler winter months.

Enlist the help of 5-10 volunteers who have a special soup they particularly like to make. It would be a good idea to make sure you have a variety. Example: Chicken & Dumplings, Chicken Tortilla, Italian Wedding, Sausage & Bean, Potato Cheese, Split Pea, etc.

Ask each person to prepare as many quarts are ordered. You can provide them with the ingredients, or if they are willing to donate them, that would be even better! You can also solicit donations. For example, ask several people to donate celery, carrots, or potatoes and divide them among the cooks. Or take a simple change jar collection to offset the costs. You will then need to purchase good quality, liquid friendly containers!

Make up a flyer and distribute wherever you can. Include when the soups will be made and delivered. Make sure you use the tagline “Soups for Souls” to tie in what you are selling with why you are raising money. Have each person call you to place orders. Consider taking orders for a week, then let your chefs know how many orders were placed and how much you will need several days in advance. All that’s left to do is deliver the soup, and collect the money!

Primo Pasta Smorgasbord

Need an easy fundraising idea with low overhead to raise money for your group? How about considering a pasta smorgasbord! This can be accomplished very easily with very little overhead.

First, decide on a location – a park, a community hall, etc. Second, ask friends, family and group supporters to make their favorite pasta dish. Anything goes, as long as it is based around pasta! (think macaroni or tortellini salad, moms favorite mac-n-cheese, or stroganoff…..) Third, purchase plates, utensils and drinks and decide on an admission price per person. Fourth, put out the word!

Fantasy Fudge Fundraiser

Many people have their own family recipes for amazing fudge of all different varieties. Use their recipes to raise funds for your group! Ask friends and family if they would be willing to whip up a batch of their top secret fudge for your group. Try to get several different varieties such as peanut butter, white fudge, coconut pecan, maple, etc…

Buy pretty treat boxes at a craft store. Make up variety boxes, a few of each type for sale. If you have the space where you decide to market your product, you may want to consider boxing individually. That way each person would be able to customize the variety they would like. Sell the fantasy fudge boxes at any local event!

Help Your Neighbor – Not for Profit Fundraiser

With the current state of if the economy, many local families are desperate to put food on the table. Be the one to help fill the fridge of a family in need. Ask the local food pantry if they could deliver to a family that they know has a greater need than some others. Additionally, ask if they are willing to share a few details while still keeping it anonymous such as; job loss, illness, etc. Get the word out to your friends, family & co-workers that you are collecting for a specific family in need/crisis. Many people will feel more compelled to give if they feel connected. So, share a few details while still respecting the privacy of the family. Deliver the goods and or funds to the pantry. You will never know who you helped, but you can feel good about the fact that you DID help.

Too Busy to Bake – Fundraiser

Ok, so I know that cookie dough is overdone. But around the holidays, everyone is too tired and too busy to bake. Most busy people would be overjoyed to be able to buy a truly home made dough or cake batter and support your cause at the same time!

Enlist the help of several willing volunteers
Have each person whip up a bowl of their favorite cookie dough or other baked goods
You will also need to get the baking directions for each type and attach them to the container (or write with a sharpie)
Provide each with a few disposable tupperware type containers. Be sure to keep the size consistent You may want to charge by the size of the container rather that a dozen/loaf/pan.
Advertise that you will be selling home-made dough and batter for baked goods. You will also want to make sure that you set up a table at community functions, such as after church services, sporting events, plays, etc…
Make sure to note several uses on your advertising such as: hostess gifts, teacher & co-worker gifts, cookie exchanges, etc…

Making the cookie dough yourself, or having it donated by volunteers, will bring greater profits to your organization.

Start the holiday season in your community off with a bang! Send an invitation to ”Santa Claus” to come to your town and have breakfast with the community. This can be a unique fundraising opportunity for your group. Consider asking the local fire or police department if they would host this event.

Decide on a time and a place. Ask local restaurants if they would consider donating some of the food for this event. Charge a fee per person or per family. You can also offer pictures with Santa for an additional fee. This is a unique fundraising event that the whole community can enjoy!

Rather than going through the work of planning, preparing and presenting a full-blown dinner to raise funds for your organization, consider “hosting” a restaurant night. Many restaurants offer local organizations the opportunity to receive a cut of their earnings for the night. Different restaurants do it differently. Some require participants to bring in a flyer or something to connect them with the sponsoring organization. Others will simply give a cut of total earnings for the night. Either way, it’s a benefit to both the restaurant and to your organization.

Charge a fee for each entry and award a prize to the winner. Consider having different categories for people to enter (best spicy chili, young chefs entry, vegetarian chili, etc). Charge a fee to sample entries and to judge which they like best.
