If you are looking to raise funds for your school near a holiday, here is a great fundraising idea! Ask student representatives to visit a local nursery in order to ask the nursery if they will sell plants to them at cost for your group to re-sale. This is a great way for them to show their support to your school! However, you can also make it more appealing by making it clear that in exchange for this service, they will receive positive word of mouth, and free advertising at your school events. Make sure you make/buy a banner that provides this for them. You can even mention the nursery’s role in a school newsletter or year book, and send a copy to them as well. This recognition will make them more likely to work with you in the future.

Offer the plants for sale at home events, through the school website or newsletter, distribute flyers and give each student an order sheet to sell to their family & friends.

This event can work at all times of the year. For Easter, the plants might be Easter Lilies or Tulips. At Christmas, they might be small potted evergreen trees or poinsettias.

Ditch the traditional autumn fundraisers and do something unique this year. Find a local supplier that is willing to sell you a batch of pumpkins. Be sure to make arrangements for delivery if possible. Pick a day or weekend when you will sell pumpkins to the public. Then advertise, advertise, advertise!!! You can add to the atmosphere by playing spooky music, having pumpkin carving or painting contests, selling cider, etc.

Greeting Card Fundraiser

This is an easy fundraising idea! Buy a variety of cards in bulk (holiday, birthday and get-well) Sell the cards for $1.00 each. You can even charge more per card and offer to hand write the recipients address on the card and/or put a stamp on it so it is ready to mail when the special day gets here.

Remembrance Tree Fundraiser

This fundraising idea allows others to honor their loved ones in a special way.

Set up a remembrance tree outside a church or other public building. For a $1 donation, people can write the name of a lost loved one on a card and hang it on the tree.

If done at Christmas time, consider selling ornaments that will be placed on the time with the loved one’s name. Donors can then pick up the ornament after the holidays and hold it as a keepsake.
