This is a great fundraiser to do in the winter. Decorate a hall or large room so that it looks like a park in springtime (plants, artificial turf, garbage cans, picnic tables, “Don’t Litter” signs, etc.). Charge an admission fee or take donations. Provide hot dogs and hamburgers and have those attending sign-up to bring side dishes. Start looking for plants that can be borrowed and tag each plant when it is received so that it is easily identified and returned to the correct owner. Charge admission at the door and/or sell tickets in advance. Have games such as badminton, croquet, and volleyball after the meal. Have the guests provide their own plates, forks, etc.

Instead of fundraising for a community garden, consider soliciting requests for the specific items and manpower needed.

Request Plant, Seed, & Soil donations for church/ school.

Gardening Supplies can be loaned or donated.

Use hardy, easy-care plants in a mix of annuals (bloom all season) and perennials (come back year after year). Mulching is helpful to reduce watering & weeding.

Set up Pledges for Manpower to establish Garden Plot -possibly in 30 minute intervals, and ongoing pledges of weeding & tending.
