Here is a great fundraiser for a basketball team….and also a way to teach the value of giving back to our youth. Have a hoops contest to raise money for a cause. Have the team choose a charity to support, then organize a free throw contest. Have each team member ask for sponsorship depending on how many baskets they make in an allotted time. For instance, in 1 minute period, a person can sponsor a dollar a basket. Make sure that the team makes it clear that they are raising money for a cause.

Series of Unfortunate Events Fundraiser

Let’s face it. We all like to laugh at someone else’s bad luck, or misfortune…hence the popularity of some of today’s most watched TV shows! Why not capitalize on this fact and earn some money for your group at the same time. (An don’t forget have a good laugh too!!)

Enlist the participation of some willing adults. This will be an especially fun event if it is done in a larger group, such as a sports team. Maybe you could talk the coaches, principal,and a few of the players into participating!
Think of several “unfortunate” things that could happen, such as a pie in the face, having slime dumped on your head, having to eat a super sour gumball, or catch raw eggs…you get the picture!
Put these events in a hat, and charge per ticket to get a chance to have your favorite coach or teacher have an unfortunate event happen….all in good fun and for a good cause!

This would be even easier to earn money if this is piggybacked onto another event such as a big game, or a play, etc…

Coaches Clinic

Is your sports team looking to raise a bit of money this year? Consider hosting a coaches clinic as a fundraiser for your team.

Enlist the help of a couple coaches for your sport for this fundraising idea. High-school and college athletes can be great at helping younger kids learn the sport.

Pick a day and time. Reserve a place that will be big enough to accommodate the kids running drills. Set your price. Publicize the event through the local newspaper and flyers sent home with school kids. Let people know the age/skill level of the clinic and provide a brief outline of what will be covered. Include refreshments and perhaps a souvenir t-shirt, if you can find a sponsor.
