Dessert Cook-Off Fundraiser

Dessert lovers are everywhere. Give them what they want with a Dessert Cook-off Fundraiser. Contact local restaurants, pastry chefs and local homemakers to see if they would be interested in participating. They would receive free advertising in return. Find a banquet hall that is willing to let you host the event for free or a reduced price. Let them set up a cash bar to recoup some of the cost and maybe you can split the proceeds. Sell tickets as a Dessert Tasting Event. Tickets sold in advance can be sold at a reduced price from tickets sold at the door to encourage pre-sales.

Have each participant prepare sample sized portions of their favorite desserts. It would be great if they could attend the event to answer questions (and get praised) about their desserts. Make sure you have a variety of desserts. Something for everyone! You may also want to have a wine tasting. Find a wine expert willing to help suggest wines that will pair well with each dessert. This fundraiser is sure to be popular and a great moneymaker

Throw a House Party

People don’t donate to charities, they donate to people. So gather up your friends and invite them to a party at your house for your next fundraising event. Provide refreshments, some entertainment, and of course information about the charity you are supporting. Some attendees may be willing to write a check to your organization during the party. Others may be more inclined to donate during the next appeal process. The idea is to spread goodwill about your organization and increase the number of supporters. Financial donations will then follow.

Here are some ideas for a house party:

Sunday Brunch
After Work – Wine & Cheese
Before the Big Game – invite folks to come an hour before the game. They won’t want to listen to information about your charity once the game’s started.

Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Host a casual evening of food, friends, and fine wine for your next fundraising event.

Reserve a room that will provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere for the evening.
Contact a local wine store or liquor representative about providing the wine and uncorking service.
Be sure to follow all local laws regarding serving liquor.
Charge $20 – $30 per ticket. Consider giving a discount if they purchase in advance. Make sure your costs will be easily covered by the ticket price with enough profit going to your organization.
Arrange for some finger food that will compliment the wines being served.
Have music playing in the background.
Allow attendees to register to win a bottle of wine or a gift certificate to a wine boutique that will be given away at the end of the evening.
