Bible Trivia Night – Religious Fundraising Idea

If you are raising money for a church youth or missions group, a Bible Trivia Night would be a great way to have fun night yet still raise money for your group!

Ask for people to register in groups….by families, friends, small home groups, or any group that would like to play together as a team.
Charge an entrance fee, and ask for a local business to donate a gift card or a prize for the winner. (hint:advertising for them!)
Decide on a list of several trivia items from the bible. Decide on a time limit for the group to settle on an answer and allow them to use their own bibles to find an answer. Give each group an air horn (or musical instrument, etc) to sound when they have decided on an answer….its a terrible racket, but a fun variation.
Consider selling concessions to up your profits
Publicize your event!

Series of Unfortunate Events Fundraiser

Let’s face it. We all like to laugh at someone else’s bad luck, or misfortune…hence the popularity of some of today’s most watched TV shows! Why not capitalize on this fact and earn some money for your group at the same time. (An don’t forget have a good laugh too!!)

Enlist the participation of some willing adults. This will be an especially fun event if it is done in a larger group, such as a sports team. Maybe you could talk the coaches, principal,and a few of the players into participating!
Think of several “unfortunate” things that could happen, such as a pie in the face, having slime dumped on your head, having to eat a super sour gumball, or catch raw eggs…you get the picture!
Put these events in a hat, and charge per ticket to get a chance to have your favorite coach or teacher have an unfortunate event happen….all in good fun and for a good cause!

This would be even easier to earn money if this is piggybacked onto another event such as a big game, or a play, etc…

Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser

Ditch the traditional autumn fundraisers and do something unique this year. Find a local supplier that is willing to sell you a batch of pumpkins. Be sure to make arrangements for delivery if possible. Pick a day or weekend when you will sell pumpkins to the public. Then advertise, advertise, advertise!!! You can add to the atmosphere by playing spooky music, having pumpkin carving or painting contests, selling cider, etc.

“No Talent” Show

For those of us who weren’t blessed with stage-worthy singing voices, typical talent shows can be pretty intimidating. How about hosting a “no talent” show. All you need to do is rent (or even buy if this event may be repeated) a decent karaoke machine, set up a “stage” area (or do it at a local establishment), and secure some light-hearted judges. This is particularly fun for high school and college-age groups, but anyone can have a great time with it! This will be lots of laughs for all involved!

You can turn this into a fundraiser a couple of different ways:

Charge entrants a small fee to participate and award a portion of the proceeds to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Have the audience vote for their favorite performer. They vote with dollars though. Have a jar set up for each performer and people can vote by dropping in change and dollars. The person with the most money in the jar at the end of the evening is crowned the winner.

Mom’s Helper Fundraiser

A very easy fundraising idea is to offer babysitting services to local parents. This is a great idea for a church youth group where the teens are likely to know the younger children. Distribute fliers advertising your service. You can offer traditional babysitting where parents leave the kids with the sitter or you can also spin it as a way for moms to get something done while their children are occupied during the day! Be creative! All moms are busy, and calling a sitter can be one more task that gets put off…coming to them is one less thing for them to do. Trust me…they will appreciate it!

Door-to-Door Window Wash Fundraiser

With this creative fundraiser, you go door-to-door in your neighborhood and offer to wash outside windows for $5, $10, or $15 depending on the size of the job. Do this as a group and be sure to clean up afterward and collect money when the job is completed. Safety first with this one.

If you’re doing this as part of a youth group fundraiser, it may be easier to visit the homes of people you know. They will be less skeptical and more willing to help out your cause.

Karaoke Night Fundraiser

Here is a fundraising idea that has spiritual benefits as well as financial ones!

Get all the people in your youth group to commit to memorize as many scripture verses as they can in one week. Have people find sponsors who are willing to pay them a certain amount for each scripture they memorize. Have a get-together at the end of the week and have each youth group member recite the verses they learned.
