Your organization and its members have a wealth of information amongst them. Capture that knowledge and publish it in a book to be sold as a fundraiser. Here are some ideas to get you thinking:
- Create a directory of people in your industry and publish it as an e-book.
- Create a book of poetry written by your members. This can be especially meaningful when they all have a common theme such as raising children or coping with an illness.
- Has your group been extremely successful at something? It could be grant writing, community fundraisers, raising awareness, or lobbying. Write a book about how you do it.
- Are your members artistic? Create a book that captures their works of art.
- Capture your benefactors in photos. If you work to support a zoo, publish photographs of the animals. If you have an environmental cause, publish photographs of nature.
- If your organization is focused on a specific culture, write a book detailing the customs, food, and celebrations of that culture.
- Create a “top 50″ list of anything to do with your organization – endangered animals, bike trails, state parks, recipes, books, etc.
With publishing software readily available you can publish the book yourself with or enlist the help of an editor to get the material laid out. Decide if you want to publish it online or in hard copy and research the best ways to accomplish your chosen method. Then be sure to get lots of publicity for the release of the book to raise awareness and bring in sales.
